Legal Accounting Clerk - Temp-to-Hire

Pay: Up to $27 per hour
Location: Sacramento, CA
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite (depending on client requirements)

Ledgent is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Accounting Clerk for a temp-to-hire opportunity with one of our reputable legal industry clients. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, skilled with numbers, and comfortable supporting accounting functions within a legal or professional services environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on time
  • Perform monthly reconciliations, including trust accounts (if applicable)
  • Assist with billing, invoice preparation, and payment posting
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and internal reports
  • Maintain accurate client and matter records in accounting systems
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure compliance with legal accounting standards and internal policies
  • Provide general administrative and accounting support as needed

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of accounting experience (legal environment preferred)
  • Strong understanding of AP processing high volume of up to 400 invoices weekly.
  • Experience with legal accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Aderant, Elite, Clio) is a plus
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
